The candidate must have these basic qualifications/requirements:- Master of Science (M.S.) degree with a concentration in coastal, ocean or marine engineering or science and a Bachelor of Science (B.S.) degree in Civil, Environmental, or Water Resources Engineering
- Familiarity with at least one scripting language, e.g. Python, Perl, Matlab
- Strong understanding of coastal processes, wave mechanics, and surf zone hydrodynamics
- Experience with the application of numerical models for the prediction of wind-generated waves, and/or coastal circulation
- Familiarity with Geographic Information Systems (GIS)
- Engineer-in-Training (E.I.T.) certification or Professional Engineer (P.E.) registration
- Experience with FEMA flood hazard analysis and mapping
- Proficiency with mesh generation tools (SMS, etc.), wave models (SWAN, etc.) and/or circulation models (ADCIRC, etc.)
- Experience with the analysis and design of coastal structures
- Familiarity with flood frequency analysis and statistical analysis
- Familiarity with riverine hydraulics and hydrology, water quality modeling, etc.
- Strong technical writing skills
- Conduct coastal engineering analysis and numerical modeling in support of coastal flood hazard studies under a predefined framework
- Provide technical assistance to the Water Resources Services department in areas of coastal, hydrologic, hydraulic and water quality design and analyses
- Complete tasks assigned by a Senior Coastal Engineer and work with junior engineers to complete engineering studies and design projects
