One of the first EHP field trips took students to the anechoic testing chamber at LECO Corporation in St. Joseph Mich. The company is a world leader in many fields of analytical chemistry including protein measurement in foods, glow discharge emission in metals, environmental monitoring, and medical and pharmaceutical applications. Since the field trip at least one student has interned there. |
EHP students are required to complete and defend a research thesis by April of senior year. You can start as early as your sophomore year, working for a minimum of two semesters with a faculty mentor. You may work on campus during the academic year or during the summer at a participating national laboratory or with an industry partner off campus. Most important, the topic of your research is your call. (The basic topic must be approved by the EHP, but the rest is up to you.) You decide what most interests you and then work with your faculty adviser how best to approach it.
