You don’t become a living legend or a leader overnight. Great leadership, according to Joseph “Bud” Ahearn, comes from developing the whole person — family, learning, jobs, opportunities, participation in the profession, faith, and fun. During this interview you’ll learn about the experiences and opportunities that made Ahearn a remarkable “whole” person.

First speaker in the Notre Dame Living Legends of Engineering Leadership Lecture Series.

Joseph "Bud" Ahearn

Retired Vice Chairman and Sr. Vice President, CH2M HILL

Joseph A. “Bud” Ahearn retired from CH2M HILL, where he was a senior executive leader in the engineering business lines of transportation, environment, water, industrial design, and related infrastructure. During his 20-year career with the company, he served in a variety of capacities. But that was his “second’ career. Prior to joining CH2M HILL, he distinguished himself through a military career spanning more than three decades, achieving the rank of Major General in the U.S. Air Force. Today he focuses on educating the next generation of leaders.
