Summary of Activities/Interests
My current research interests are primarily related to high-temperature rapid reactive joining of similar (carbon/carbon composites) and dissimilar (carbide to metal-alloy) materials, combustion synthesis of SiC/SiO2 multifunctional anti-oxidation protection in carbon/carbon composites, tailoring the powder reactivity by mechanical activation approaches (high-energy ball milling) and synthesis of nanopowder (i.e., carbides, intermetallics, etc) by SHS, and kinetics of high-temperature reactions in heterogeneous systems (i.e., Ni+Al).
