Project Title

Sustainable Energy Solutions for a Growing Global Population

Project Description

My plan for a research experience is to work with an engineering faculty member on an international research project that focuses on helping a developing nation move toward economic and social development. I have applied for the Kellogg International Scholars Program, and I hope to obtain a research position mentored by an engineering faculty who is associated with the Kellogg Institute for International Studies. If I do not receive this research position, I will apply for funding for international research or work on an already existing research project here at Notre Dame.

Department Affiliation

Department of Aerospace and Mechanical Engineering

Courses Related to My Project

I have already completed Principles of Microeconomics. During my recent Engineering Study Abroad in  Rome, I took Ethics and Professional Issues in Engineering. At some point during my undergraduate career I will take Introduction to Social Psychology.

Business/Entrepreneurship Opportunities

I recently completed the Integrated Engineering and Business Fundamentals course in order to better understand business management and operations.

Global Perspective

In addition to participating in Notre Dame's Engineering Study Abroad program in Rome,  I was recently involved in a service trip to Cuba with a group from Notre Dame. I have also traveled to Tanzania to explore the country and the culture. Again, if I receive the Kellogg International Scholars Program position, I will have additional opportunities to travel to a developing nation as part of a research project.

Community Engagement

I participated in Urban Plunge in St. Louis and served at the site leader. This program was organized by Notre Dame's Center for Social Concerns. I also plan to participate in the Appalachia program at some point in my undergraduate career.
