The University Academic Advising Initiative represents one of Notre Dame’s most significant academic transformations in recent years. Over the course of just nine months, more than 90 faculty and staff from 13 units collaborated to update the long-standing advising model to a comprehensive, four-year advising structure embedded within each college and school.

This initiative established the University’s first advising philosophy, standardized administrative processes, enhanced career pathways for advising professionals, and significantly reduced advisor caseloads, enhancing support for undergraduate students. The new structure ensures every student can develop a sustained, meaningful relationship with an academic advisor from their first semester through graduation. For their exceptional vision, dedication, and collaborative spirit, the University Academic Advising Initiative Team is recognized with the Presidential Team Irish Award.
