Joshua D. Cameron serves as the Director of the Notre Dame Turbomachinery Laboratory (NDTL). Dr. Cameron joined the University of Notre Dame in 2008 as a Research Assistant Professor in the Department of Aerospace and Mechanical Engineering. Instrumental in the development of the new NDTL, he was appointed Director in 2014.

In his role as Director of NDTL, Dr. Cameron managed the design and construction of a new world-class gas turbine component testing and research facility in downtown South Bend, IN where he currently oversees the operation of four turbomachinery test cells, manages annual research expenditures, and develops the long-term vision and plan for NDTL’s growth. Dr. Cameron continues to manage and direct three testing facilities on the Notre Dame campus.

Dr. Cameron obtained a B.S. in Aerospace Engineering (2002) and M.S. in Aerospace and Mechanical Engineering (2003) from the Illinois Institute of Technology. He completed his Ph.D. in Aerospace Engineering at the University of Notre Dame in 2007.

Dr. Cameron is a member of the American Society of Mechanical Engineers, the American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics, and the American Physical Society.

The Notre Dame Turbomachinery Laboratory at the University of Notre Dame has entered into a 19-month, $2.5-million dollar agreement with Doosan Heavy Industries & Construction Co. Ltd. to conduct compressor research and testing to support the development of a 300-megawatt class power generation gas turbine.
