Win a $1000 scholarship from Stryker by winning the 7th annual engineering challenge!

On March 30th and March 31st, 2017 we invite you to Stryker’s Kalamazoo location to show of your engineering prowess as you compete against 6 of your rival schools!

For the overnight challenge you are given approximately 12 hours to build something (with materials provided) to navigate the challenge. Each school’s team consists of 4 engineering students who meet the qualifications outlined below. In addition to the challenge, you’ll have an opportunity to tour our facility and actually use or products! We hope you’ll join for this chance of a lifetime!

Seven schools will be competing (Notre Dame, Western Michigan University, Michigan State University, Michigan College Alliance, Michigan Tech University, Purdue and University of Michigan). Each member of the winning team will receive a $1000 scholarship and an interview for a summer 2018 Internship with Stryker.


3.0 GPA or above

Engineering major

Graduation date of December 2018 or beyond

Has the skill set needed for the challenge

Must be a permanent resident of the US or US citizen

Skill set needed for the challenge

General Mechanics (Statics/Dynamics/Mechanical Linkages)

Analog Design

Programming (language platform used is similar to C)

Passion for engineering that goes beyond the classroom!

  • Resume for each team member which includes current cumulative GPA
  • Team or individual response to the following questions:
  1. Why did you choose engineering as your major?
  2. What has been the most impactful way you have demonstrated your interest in engineering?
  3. What are your future goals?
