Aerospace and Mechanical Engineering
Tenure-Track Faculty Position – Robotics: The Department of Aerospace and Mechanical Engineering at the University of Notre Dame invites applications for a tenure-track faculty position in robotics. This search is part of sustained growth in robotics at Notre Dame. Recent investments include a cross-departmental effort in Physical AI and Robotics that connects Aerospace and Mechanical Engineering with Computer Science and Engineering and with Electrical Engineering. Robotics at Notre Dame is organized around a distinctive identity in human-centered robotics, built on established strengths in mechanics, modeling, control, and experimentally grounded robotic systems.
Tenure-Track Faculty Position – All Areas: The Department of Aerospace and Mechanical Engineering at the University of Notre Dame invites applications for a tenure-track faculty position. Applications are welcome from all areas of aerospace and mechanical engineering. The Department is particularly interested in candidates whose work complements and bridges existing strengths in its five research pillars: bioengineering; computational engineering; fluid mechanics; materials, energy, and manufacturing; and robotics and controls. Strategic priorities include human health and well-being; sustainable energy, propulsion, and aerospace systems; advanced materials and manufacturing; dynamics, control, and automation; physical artificial intelligence and autonomy; and research that couples AI with physics-based modeling, simulation, and experimentation.
Roth-Gibson Professor of Aerospace and Mechanical Engineering and Director, Hessert Aerospace Laboratories: The Department of Aerospace and Mechanical Engineering at the University of Notre Dame invites applications and nominations for a distinguished scholar and visionary leader to serve as the Roth-Gibson Professor of Aerospace and Mechanical Engineering and Director of the Hessert Aerospace Laboratories. This senior, faculty leadership role is intended for an internationally recognized aerospace researcher who will provide strategic direction and intellectual leadership to advance the laboratories as a world-class hub for aerospace research, education, and collaboration.
Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering
Tenure-Track Faculty Position – Intersection of Biology and Chemical Engineering: The Department of Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering at the University of Notre Dame invites applications for tenure-track assistant professor positions from individuals with research interests at the broad intersection of biology and chemical engineering. Exceptional established candidates may also be considered for appointment at the Associate Professor or Professor rank. The successful candidate will develop and lead an innovative research program that addresses forefront challenges in biomolecular, biochemical, biotechnology, or bioprocess engineering, including but not limited to synthetic biology, biosensing, systems biology, metabolic engineering, and microbial engineering.
Civil and Environmental Engineering and Earth Sciences
Tenured/Tenure-Track Faculty Position – Innovative Construction Engineering and Infrastructure Systems: The Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering and Earth Sciences at the University of Notre Dame invites applications for multiple open-rank faculty positions in Innovative Construction Engineering and Infrastructure Systems. Appointments may be made at the Assistant Professor, Associate Professor, or Professor level. Areas of particular interest include, but are not restricted to: Intelligent, Autonomous, and Geospatial Construction Systems; Future Construction and Infrastructure Systems; Construction and Infrastructure in Complex Environments. These areas are illustrative rather than restrictive, so candidates pursuing innovative research that broadly advances construction engineering and infrastructure systems are encouraged to apply.
Electrical Engineering
Tenure-Track Faculty Position – All Areas: The Department of Electrical Engineering at the University of Notre Dame invites applications for tenure-track and tenured faculty positions at all levels and in all areas of Electrical Engineering. The department is particularly interested in candidates whose research complements and extends existing strengths in wireless communications and networks, autonomous decision and control, signal and/or image processing, power systems and the electric grid, smart city applications, and cryogenic CMOS and low-temperature electronics, including circuits and devices for quantum computing and sensing. Duties will include research, teaching, and service.
Bioengineering
Tenured/Tenure-Track Faculty: The University of Notre Dame invites applications for a faculty position within the College of Engineering, with a primary focus in the general field of Bioengineering. We are seeking researchers at the Associate or Full Professor rank who work at the intersection of biology and engineering. To support this cross-disciplinary search, the committee is comprised of members from the Departments of Aerospace and Mechanical Engineering (AME), Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering (CBE), Electrical Engineering (EE), and Civil and Environmental Engineering and Earth Sciences (CEEES).
