Doctoral students in Notre Dame’s College of Engineering who are recipients of external grants, awards and fellowships that contribute a substantial portion to their annual stipend will receive an adjusted annual stipend of $45,000 throughout the entire duration of the external funding period.
External grants, awards and fellowships that fall under this policy include (for example):
- National Science Foundation Graduate Research Fellowship Program (NSF GRFP)
- Department of Energy Nuclear Energy University Program (NEUP) Fellowship
- Department of Energy Office of Science Graduate Student Research (SCGSR) Program
- Department of Energy National Nuclear Security Administration (NNSA) Fellowships
- GEM Fellowships
- NASA Space Technology Graduate Research Opportunity (NSTGRO)
Some national fellowships are open to international students. In addition, some non-U.S. governments and entities offer fellowships that fall under this policy.
