Areas of Interest
Leonor Wangensteen is an academic advisor for engineering majors, and she directs the College of Engineering’s Academically Collaborative Engineering Spaces (ACES) Program, which provides tutoring and peer mentorship for engineering students.
Her scholarship focuses on issues of diversity, inclusivity, and equality in higher education, including best practices in advising underrepresented student populations. Her areas of interest include STEM advising, integrative advising, DEI and cultural competence, immigrant and undocumented populations, and LGBTQ+ populations.
An active member of NACADA: the Global Community for Academic Advising, Wangensteen offers advising resources, e-tutorials, presentations, and consulting services. At Notre Dame, She has served as faculty for the Center for University Advising and the Department of Romance Languages and Literatures, and she was the inaugural Director of the Dream ND Community.
In 2020, Wangensteen received Notre Dame’s Dockweiler Award for Excellence in Undergraduate Advising.
