Areas of Interest

Professor Lyon collaborates with faculty from all engineering departments to organize and teach courses designed to prepare students during their first two semesters in engineering.

His research interests lie in engineering education, focusing on the effective teaching of modeling, simulation, and computer programming in first-year and undergraduate contexts. His research has concentrated on developing classroom-based approaches to teaching these computational thinking skills for use across higher education.
